Millennium Hotel

The Millennium Hotel is situated on the iconic George Square which is in the heart of Glasgow. Perfect location for people who haven't visited the city before as it is so close to bars restaurants and nightclubs. The hotel itself is stunning in terms of architecture and design and has everything you could ever want.

As you can see the outside is magnificent and is it just a taster of what it's like inside!
The perfect location also needs the perfect room, which the Millennium do not fail on!

There are many different types of rooms to choose from to suit your needs, each just as gorgeous as the next! There are Standard Rooms, Club Rooms, Studio Suite, Executive Suite and Luxury Suite which is very luxurious!

Within the hotel there is a restaurant and bars also, so you don't need to stay in the Millennium to enjoy these. The Brasserie on George Square offers some of the finest Scottish foods and there is also an option to book a private dinning experience. This is where you get your own room which is brilliant for any special occasion.

Nice N Sleazy (Bar/Nightclub)

Another great bar in the hustle and bustle of Glasgow is Nice N Sleazy. Located on the busy street of Sauchiehall Street this is the perfect location for a drink with friends. This bar also is a great place to catch some new music! It has resident DJs ripping up the dance floor some nights and other nights there is all sorts of different bands playing so there is something to suit everyone!

The things I myself quite like about this bar is that it offers a unique music vibe. Every wall is covered in vintage posters and has amazing card suit lights. Very different from your usual bar. It also has the epic jukebox with songs ranging from indie to ultimate rock and roll classics. If your a lover of your music then this is a definite hotspot for you!

You can also have your chance to book a gig or a party in Nice N Sleazy as they have a private room downstairs with a fully equipped PA system. If your booking a gig here, Nice N Sleazy don't only provide the space for your gig but they also provide posters and listings sent out to press and through there own mailing list so your guaranteed to create a bit buzz about you or your band!

Beer Gardens Glasgow (FEATURED ARTICLE)

We are still waiting for spring to begin and maybe even see some summer this year and I know many of us don’t think it will happen but all we can do is hope and keep our fingers crossed!

But the great thing is, when the weather gets better and all the snow disappears it means that all the beer gardens will be ready for use!

On a summers day (we all know there aren’t many) everybody gets their shorts and sunglasses out and head to their nearest beer garden!

If you’ve never been to a beer garden your probably thinking what’s so good about it, well let’s just see;
1.      To start off it’s a time when you can sit outside, chill and watch the sun shine on you.
2.      A summers days will encourage all your friends to come out and enjoy the sunshine (even the ones that always come up with the excuses will find it hard to say no).

3.      When the sun is shining it is always deemed acceptable to start drinking in the afternoon just to absorb those extra few rays of sun and increase your vitamin D.
4.      You can absorb the great atmosphere around you, we know when the sun is shining it might not exactly be hitting the 30 degrees that we all wish for but the patio heaters that most beer gardens have will help you feel and think it is.

5.      And naturally on a sunny day everybody is happy because the sun is finally out, and so everyone just seems to be loving life that little bit more and have a few more beers than normal!
After discussing all the good things about beer gardens all we need to do is sit and wait for that one day of sunshine that we get in Scotland ( you know we are only kidding, we do get a few more than one).

Now if you are in Glasgow on that rare sunny day we would advise that you give these bars a try; Babbity Bowster’s in merchant city or if you are in the west end then give Brel or Jinty Mcginty’s a try which are both in Ashton Lane.

A Typical Students Night Out in Glasgow (FEATURED ARTICLE)

So everybody always goes out and has a ’few drinks’, traditionally you would go out on a Friday or Saturday night, but now every weekday is just as good as the weekend, most bars and clubs have got a least one promotional night midweek and then the weekend is just guaranteed to be a great night where ever you end up but the question is

IS ALL THE DRINKING REALLY WORTH IT?

So most people (especially if you are a student) pre-drink before they go out, because they are living a typical students life, they can adapt their ways and some people can go out and have a great night on £20, on the other hand there are some people who go out and after they have a few drinks they think they are made of money and begin offering everybody a drink..(And of course it’s rude to decline the generous offer). They obviously wake up in the morning trying to piece together the bits of the night that they can remember and regret spending so much money.

But let’s face it who would have it any other way …if you go out and enjoy yourself does it really matter that your ‘wasting your money’ on drink, definitely not!

Students seem to be living with the ‘YOLO’ approach (you only live once). So they will go out and have fun, and it doesn’t matter that they are getting in a 4 o’clock in the morning and have a 9am lecture, sometimes they make it, sometimes they don’t (you can spot them a mile away walking into the lecture with their hair scraped back and most likely their false eyelashes still on from the night before) .It could be worse than a lecture they could be working the next day where they have to act professional in front of management but in the back  of their head all they are thinking about is all the funny things they can remember or the thought that when their shift finishes the first thing that they will do is crawl back into bed!

So back to the question asked earlier, is all the drinking really worth it?  …of course it is, a student’s life wouldn’t be the same without it!

Bar Budda (Glasgow Bar)

The Glasgow Experience - Bar Budda - Bar Glasgow

Bar Budda, Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow. Just recently visited this bar after hearing good things, have to say it lived up to the hype! Loved the layout with great booth space where there was plenty of space for a group of us. We used the bar as a pre-drink night before Jellybaby on Thursday (as Bar Budda give out free passes to Jbaby, hint hint!), we could easily have stayed there and made a whole night of it. While not being overly busy this night, we sat in our booth with a mixture of shots, Jaeger bombs and some bar budda cocktails and had a genuinely great time. The music was on point, with hit after hit and generally created a great vibe for the place.

I loved the privacy you get form the booths with the walls, it makes a night out with your friends really special. The staff were chatty and upbeat even when 2 of the guys got a load of cocktails in! The music was loud but not overpowering so we could chat, which was a great bonus. The lighting was dim and gave the bar a great look with candle lights and great big Buddha statues shining away.
The Glasgow Experience - Bar Budda - Bar Glasgow

From word of mouth, they do great deals for hen and stag parties and other such groups. The food we hear is great value and pretty damn tasty too. So, thumbs up for Bar Budda in Glasgow!

Viper (Glasgow Nightclub, Glasgow West End)

The Glasgow Experience- Viper - Glasgow Nightclub

Viper is a club situated in the west end of Glasgow and it is a student’s place to be!

Monday night is definitely Viper night, that is when you will find everybody there but they are also open Wednesday – Saturday and it is cheap drinks on all these days!

Because it is not in the city centre then it cannot stay open as late as the other Glasgow clubs, so they shut at 2am but you can make up for it by just going earlier as they are open a t 9pm.

It is constantly busy but that will be because the great music that they provide such as RNB, Hip hop and house- Something to suit everyone.
The Glasgow Experience- Viper - Glasgow Nightclub

Viper is definitely targeted at students, isn’t it great when you are there you are socialising with people your own age and not the golden oldies?

There are some special occasions where they stay open until 3, but i am guessing that you already knew that though if you were there celebrating St Patricks day at the weekend?
The Glasgow Experience- Viper - Glasgow Nightclub

There are booths that you can book and with some great package deals.

Di Maggio's (Glasgow Restaurant)

The Glasgow Experience - Di Maggio's - Glasgow Restaurant

It is a classic Italian restaurant and there are restaurants all around the city but my favourite would be the one in Royal Exchange Square. Di Maggio’s start to cater for a ‘basic food eater’ to an ‘adventurous food lover’- there really is something for everyone. Wither it is for lunch or dinner every time I go I receive the best service and there are always lots of staff working so you never have long to wait for your meal either and they are all very friendly and polite. As you can expect on the weekend it gets busy so I would recommend booking a table but if you haven’t then it is never a long wait to be seated as it is a large restaurant on two floors.
The Glasgow Experience - Di Maggio's - Glasgow Restaurant

Every time I go I have to get one of their delicious pizzas but if pizza isn’t for you then don’t worry as they have got all the other classic Italian dishes including a variety of pasta dishes.

Di Maggio’s can cater for large or small groups of people; they have got booths at the sides of the restaurant and then standard tables within the middle so they can move tables around to cater for larger parties. And speaking from experience even when you are with a large group of people the service you receive is still first class.
The Glasgow Experience - Di Maggio's - Glasgow Restaurant

So if you have never been go and give it a try, it is family friendly and the kids can even get some crayons to colour in with.  I can ensure you that you will not be disappointed and it could even turn into one of the best restaurants you have ever been!

Nico's Bar (Glasgow Bar)

The Glasgow Experience - Nico's Bar - Glasgow Bar

Nico’s, situated on Sauchiehall St across from the Garage is a great place to head for drink! Nico's offers cheap pints, live sport, promos and one heck of a cocktail list. Good music played throughout this ‘smallish’ venue creates a great atmosphere and vibe to be in! There are plenty of places to sit with a HUGE bar so none of this elbow bashing and punch ups that you’ll get in other venues!
The Glasgow Experience - Nico's Bar - Glasgow Bar
The TV’s on view offer sport for you and your mates to sit and watch while having a good laugh, especially if your mates get you to down a certain drink on show by Nico’s!

This isn’t just your run of the mill shot or ‘vodka mix’ that you can find anywhere, this is a concoction of some of the more lethal spirits that you could possibly put together, IN THE ONE DRINK! The drink consists of a mixture of Vodka, Rum, Gin, Tequila, blue curacuo liquer and lemonade, and for just £4 is super cheap and obviously hits the spot for that ‘night out!’. You are only allowed 3 (recommended rather, Nico’s won’t stop you from having a good time!) in any one visit at Nico’s and is fittingly called, wait for it, the ‘Adios M*therf*cker’. Word of advice, don’t let your mates pressure you in to downing it in under 5 seconds, because you might struggle to stand after it! :/
The Glasgow Experience - Nico's Bar - Glasgow Bar
Adios M*therF*cker!
All in all, Nico’s is a cool relaxed venue with quick serving and friendly staff and available good drink. Get yourself down to Nico’s and have a M*therf*cker on us! (Not literally, but get one for yourself!)

Check them out here www.nicosglasgow.co.uk

“Based in the heart of Sauchiehall Street, Nico's is a traditional Glasgow institution. Through the years it has changed it's exterior but not it's dedication to it's customers. Nico's offers brilliant drink promotions, great music and sport and has the best bar staff in the city. If you're looking for a delicious cocktail with the girls or a pint with the lads Nico's is definately the place to be.”
